Some will point to the fact they didn't manage to bring in Van Dijk during the summer, but surely much of their defensive issues simply stems from lack of coaching and organisation. Whilst none of their defenders or goalkeepers are really considered top class, they are also not helped by the lack of protection in front of them, with Emre Can the closest thing they have to a defensive midfielder. Henderson and Wijnaldum are not giving enough support as well, especially when Can pushes forward, leaving a lot of space behind them for opponents to exploit. Sadly, Lovren, whilst not a great defender on his own, is being made the scapegoat because of his individual errors, when clearly the problem lies with the system and tactics being employed by Klopp.... |
